At the south of the island and very near to the homonym
archaeological area, is located the village Akrotiri.
The village unfolds around a Venetian castle of the 14th
Century and offers unique view to the Caldera and the
villages Oia and Fira.
Even though it isn’t one of the famous places of
the island, Akrotiri is well developed attracting mainly
young visitors that seek for more economic solutions of
accomodation. However, new luxurious lodgings are built,
too. |

The Lighthouse of Akrotiri is a unique choice for the
sunset, while the Red and White Beaches are among the
first choices for swimming at Santorini.
